Dr. Arlene Bennett, a Philadelphia native, is the first Black woman physician to have graduated from the Perelman School of Medicine (Class of 1964).
A pianist, veteran, historian, mother, civil rights advocate, and still-practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Bennett’s story is as inspiring as it is extraordinary, and only snippets of it have been told.
